The Gospel Truth

The gospel is the most powerful message I know.   It’s a story of how God loves us, and how He changes our lives for better both for this life and for eternity.

It’s a story about His love for us: That He has not forgotten us.   He has not abandoned us.

I wish everyone I know would know the power of the gospel.

Every day, I have many conversations.   For work, I talk about software implementation services.   At home, I talk about things that need to be done for the household.   With my friends and neighbors, I talk about lighter topics that we can all relate to.

Burning within my heart at all times is a desire to talk about the gospel.

There is no more important topic that I can think of to discuss.

Jesus’ love.   Meditate on that.   I dare you.   Paul wrote in Ephesians 3 that God’s love is so vast that it’s a “love that surpasses knowledge.”   It literally cannot be fully ascertained in our human minds.

I believe God has a lot to say to us.   I believe it’s well worthwhile for us to slow down and receive what He has for us.

Everyone’s so busy. We run here and there. We do this and that.   I believe God wants to slow us all down big time.   He’s opening our eyes to His goodness, and He’s challenging us to slow down and receive what He has for us.

So many people have a wall up to spiritual conversations, but I don’t believe it’s just a wall up to God.   For some of us, it’s a wall up to slowing down.   We have so much pressure on us to perform. We have so much pressure to achieve.   Someone may have once taught us some really good things about having a strong work ethic.   But, did they teach about whom we work for and why?   Did they teach us purpose? Or did they just teach us “how to be successful”?

I’m terrified by a thought. It’s this: What if I am successful at the wrong thing?  What if I devote my heart, my time, and my energy to something only to realize later on that I was living for the wrong purpose?

I’ve been guilty of what I would consider living for the wrong purpose.   To me, wrong purpose is this: Any purpose other than that which I was created for.

More than ever, I’m hungry to please God and give Him my life.

I realize that not everyone wants something other than what they want for themselves. They may think, “Why would I want to give up my time, talent, and treasure to something that is contrary to what I want?”

My answer is this: Deep down on the inside, I believe our spirit can hear from God’s Spirit. God speaks to our soul that there’s more to us than just us.   We are not an accident or the result of an accident.   If there was a big bang, God created it and it was not an accident.

Not to get off topic, but I spent some time this year watching a 13-part series on Netflix called, “Cosmos”, narrated by Neil deGrasse Tyson.   It was on the history and science of the universe.

My conclusion?   We are not an accident, and our knowledge of the universe is not an accident.   God is real, bigger than our minds can fathom, and His word is alive.   The gospel, God’s word about THE Word who became flesh (Jesus) and dwelt among us, is full of grace and truth.

Don’t believe me?   I dare you to do what Jesus said do, and believe His Word.   Struggling to believe?   Ask the difficult questions.   Seek the truth.   Be all about the truth.

Live the life.
