Thanking God for balance. If you’ve ever seen a picture of a weightlifter who skipped legged days for many years at the gym, that’s a great illustration of overall lack of balance. He just didn’t value enough working towards overall balance. Instead, for some reason, he avoided building muscle in his weak spots.
We all have our weak spots. And, they may not be a muscle group. They may be a part of our lives. Some examples of part of our lives include:
- Spiritual
- Relationships
- Career
- Finances
- Physical Fitness
For years, and especially since I’ve been married with kids, my physical fitness has been a weak area of my life. Recently, I said to myself, “Enough’s enough. It’s time.” In reality, it was time to make a change a long time ago. It was time when I was a teenager. It was time time when I was in college. It was time when I was in my 20’s or early 30’s.
As many of us know, the effects of age are catching up with us. But, that’s not all that’s catching up with us. Lack of balance over many years is catching up with us too.
As Jesus came of age, it says, “[He] increased in wisdom...” (Luke 2:52).
I recently asked myself, “How do I need to increase in wisdom? What must I do?”
God gave me one response: “Balance.” Then, He took it a step further, and said, “You know already. You need to take better care of your body.”
The very body which is a temple of the Holy Spirit is the body I must preserve and care well for.
So, I’m making some changes in the area of my physical fitness. I’ve decided it’s time. It’s time to put healthier foods in my body and get in better shape. It’s time to do my part to look, feel, and be better. It’s time to be great in this area of my life.
As I aim for better overall balance in my life, I dare you to join this journey (for better overall balance) with me. At the very least, please be inspired with me.
Live the life.
