Why I believe Jesus’ Resurrection Really Happened

Call me crazy if you will for believing that a body that was dead for 3 days could be resurrected or for believing in the accounts of the Bible, but I have many reasons for believing in the scriptures which testify of the resurrection of Jesus.

For brevity’s sake, I’ll point you to a couple of my favorite books on the topic of the historicity of Jesus’ life (as depicted in the Bible):

  • “Man, Myth, Messiah” by Rice Broocks
  • “The Case for Christ” by Lee Strobel (FYI…the movie just came out!!!)

There are other books like “The Historical Jesus” by Gary Habermas, and “Did Jesus Exist” by Bart Ehrman which are on my reading list.

I want to encourage you to explore this topic of the historical Jesus for yourself, because I believe Jesus is God’s gift to you. He’s great news. He’s an expression of God’s love for you.  He’s this and so much more.

I want to encourage you not to sweep your questions or doubts under the rug.   Bring them to the surface, seek the truth, and enjoy the journey of faith.   I’ve learned that it’s better to “wrestle with God” and work towards the truth, than to ignore truth altogether. Being religiously certain or ignorant can be a stumbling block in itself (see the Pharisees). Stay humble, be open to learning, and remain respectful along the way as you encounter views or beliefs different than yours.   There are many beliefs out there, but I believe in absolute truth. Because we can’t know all truth, we must step out in faith. We must somehow draw closer to God who knows all truth.

Jesus once said, “I AM the resurrection.” Jesus was saying that He WAS an experience post-death.

The Apostle Paul once said, “To live is Christ.” He was saying that Jesus is LIFE, an experience pre-death.

Life. Death. Resurrection.

The one thing Jesus was NOT was death.

Why not?

Because He CONQUERED it!!!

Happy Resurrection Sunday!

Live the life.
