Be A Catalyst

catalyst2Do you ever feel like you need a spark or a boost in your life? Millions of people every day drink coffee & energy drinks to help boost their energy levels in order to help them accomplish their work.

I had a chance to share yesterday with Catalyst, the new young adult ministry @ Grace Covenant Church, about a different kind of spark that we have in our lives.  This spark reflects the name of our ministry:  Catalyst.

A Catalyst is someone who invokes change in their environment without conforming to it.

Romans 12: 2 says “Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds.”

We can see from this scripture that God is calling us to be Catalysts.  He wants us to bring about change in the world without conforming to it.

We also know that we have a Catalyst.

1 Peter 1:23 says, Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which lives and abides for ever.”

The definition of corruptible is “capable of being degraded.” We know that God’s word and His Spirit cannot be degraded. It is spiritually impossible to convert the essence of God’s Spirit or God’s word from good to bad.  Also, He does not rot, corrode, break down, or spoil.

His word and His Spirit dwell within us.  I’m so glad He’s not corrupted by us!

Besides God’s Spirit and His word not degrading within us,  it is also spiritually impossible for God to degrade us.

Isaiah 55:11 says, So shall My word be that goes forth out of my mouth.  It will not return to me void, but it shall prosper in the thing whereto I send it.”

God’s word & His Spirit will prosper in you, and bear fruit in your life.

Remember today that God’s Word & the Holy Spirit are your catalyst.

By His power and example we can be a Catalyst to the world around us.

Be the change.

Live the Life.

  1. This is a timely not for me to read. I try my best and still fall short at times. This weekend, everytime I tried to be helpful, I was really being critical. And the Lord blesses me anyhow. I like what your other post said about prayer changing you. Because it has. I am amazaed of how the Lord works, he hears my prayers, gives me grace and answers my prayers. I am being blessed even while I’m working on my speck. It’s a process for sure.

    Live well, Katrina

    • Katrina, great to hear from you. I can identify with your struggle, as this post was inspired by the struggle you allude to. Yes, isn’t it true that God gives to us mercifully & graciously even as we fall, struggle, & are complete works in progress. His love DOESN’T MAKE SENSE!!!! God is so secure…so much more than me.

      Best,

      JP
